Sea Turtle Mini-Symposium, Sodowana bay, South Africa, 15-20 November 2021

From November 15-21, 2021, Isabel Marques da Silva, Gelica Inteca, and the 27 other participants attended the mini-symposium and expert workshop organized by Oceans Alive Project.

The objectives of the mini-symposium were: to analyze the management and the challenges of sea turtle conservation. In the second part of the workshop, the objectives were to improve research and monitoring methods and protocols, namely

– Minimum data standards

– Standard protocols

– Building and maintaining networks of scientists

The symposium allowed us to show the difficulties of monitoring in northern Mozambique but also allowed the exchange experiences with other realities. The work was intense, from presentations to discussions, from day to night practical work. In the end, we were left with contacts and lessons learned and exchanged.
